discriminatory practices.37 A continuous struggle on both fronts is
needed, and this involves a determination to use a variety of forms
of strategy which will supplement and undergird each other. It in
volves a willingness on the part of churches and Christians to supple
ment exhortation with the best educational methods available and
also with the utilization of law and other methods of establishing and
influencing public policy. Christian love, when it is genuine, provides
the most adequate motivation for the effort to realize social justice; it
also provides the final measure of justice in the social order when the
latter is understood from the standpoint of Christian faith.
